About me

Hello, I’m Nicola Gilmartin — and I nurture learning.

With years of experience in SEND, SEMH, alternative provision, education support, and behaviour consultancy, I founded Nicola Nurtures to offer something more human, personalised, and relational than mainstream pathways often allow.

I specialise in:

1. SEND Tuition

Tailored, nurturing tuition for children and young people with SEND needs, delivered at home, in the community, in AP settings, or online.

I design personalised, relational sessions that build skills gently and sustainably.

2. Behaviour Consultation (SEND, ASD, SEMH, Trauma‑Informed)

Support for schools, APs, provisions, and families to understand behaviour through a holistic lens.

Includes:

Observations (in person or remote)
Needs‑mapping
Trauma‑informed analysis
Collaborative strategies
Practical support for teams and families

I help shift from “What’s wrong?” to “What’s needed?”.

3. SEMH / SEN Staff Support Sessions

Confidential, reflective sessions for staff working with high‑needs learners.

Sessions may include:

Emotional load support
Reflective practice
Case exploration
Regulation strategies
Team wellbeing and resilience

These can be delivered online to fit around busy schedules.

4. Social, Emotional & Mental Health Sessions (Home / Community)

1:1 SEMH interventions to build:

Emotional regulation
Social skills
Resilience
Identity & confidence
Relationships & communication

Delivered gently and collaboratively with the learner at the centre.

5. Team Teach‑Aligned Behaviour Support

Practical guidance for educators supporting children with distressed or challenging behaviour but aligned in ethos and grounded in relational practice, de‑escalation, and safety.
